Valencia Test: Good opening test in Spain
Despite the low temperatures and the related difficult conditions on the track in Valencia, the first official test of the season 2012 has been positive for Max and his new team. Max was able to improve every day and is very satisfied with this test. Apart from the much too low temperatures, there were only two falls during the three days.
As one of five riders Max slipped on an oil spill which was caused by another rider on the first day. He wanted to use the last day of testing and drove on the track pretty late to try out a few changes to the Kalex. Unfortunately, the asphalt temperature dropped pretty much when the sun went down and it was too cold then and a crash was inevitable. The Kiefer Racing team made use of the three days of testing and Max is happy with the progress they made. He improved his lap time of 1'37.5 on the first day to 1'36.7 on the third day. Max is just missing half a second now to the top which he wants to find at the second official test in Jerez de la Frontera.
Max: "We took full advantage of the three days and tried pretty much everything that got me closer into the present very good feeling for my bike. Each time I left the pit we could improve. I am very happy with the progress of the test and with the feeling that I could develop for my bike. My new team is working very well with me and caters to my requests. The two falls should not have been happen but I could not do anything against it both times. I did not drive on a risk and could reach my lap times comfortably and I'm sure we can find the missing half-second too. Now I have one week to prepare myself for the second official test in Jerez and I will pick up right where we left off in Valencia before the crash. I just hope the temperatures will feel a little more like Spain in Jerez."
